Madison

First day of Madison's shoot. We went to Brookside and it was a bit busier than one might've thought for a Monday night. We still got a couple great photos, though. Can't wait for shoot #2! I'm voting for Loose Park-- one of our favorite places in all of KC. Here's a quick peek at what we shot last night. . .

Kallie & Bryan

This past weekend brought us the wedding of Kallie & Bryan. Kallie said she'd always wanted to get married outside but her parents wanted a wedding at a hotel. Well, the Elms in Excelsior Springs has the benefit of having both. What a beautiful old hotel this was. And after a solid week of nasty rain and chilly weather, Kallie and Bryan had a sunny and humid day for their wedding. The ceremony was outside at the gazeebo and the reception was held in one of the Elms's beautiful halls. The only regret was that we weren't able to climb on the top of the hotel and get a photograph by The Elms sign. Alas, the light just didn't last quite long enough for us. But Kallie & Bryan were more concerned with making sure they got plenty of photographs of their parents, siblings and three children. Here's a quick selection:

It's so simple to catch some fabulous moments and expressions with such an expressive family. Congrats to Kallie & Bryan!

Stacey and Graham

The wedding we filmed this past weekend was actually an old friend of Jered's from his youth group growing up. We met Stacey and Graham at Black Dog a couple times and made several promises to meet up for games or coffee after their wedding. Being friends with the couples you're working for makes our work a lot easier. It's also why we often try to become friendly with all our couples. Having that connection usually results in better video and photographs and a more natural look.

Although this was a filming wedding, Barb made a couple photographs, trying to use only available light. She didn't want to get in the way of the other photographers covering the wedding and it's always a great oportunity to break out the camera and experiment with artistic lighting.
