Rosemary & James's Engagement

The day of Rosemary & James's engagement session started off with a downpour of rain. The shoot was to take place at 5p at Kauffman Gardens and we devised to call each other at 4 and see if the shoot would have to be rescheduled. Well, at 3 it was still raining, at 4 it cleared up and by 5p on the dot, the sun came out and the air warmed up and we had ourselves a fabulous shoot. We finished right as the clouds rolled back in and the chill settled in for the evening. Talk about fabulous timing!

Vince & Bridget

October is shaping up to be our busiest month to date! It has taken us a while to get these posted and there's still so much more to put up here! Whew! But here's a few images from Vince & Bridget's October wedding. The weather was perfect and we hopped outside for some fabulous fall images. Congrats to the Davis family!

The Engagment session of Nicole & Matt

We had a great afternoon for an engagment session last week when Matt & Nicole met us at Kauffman gardens & The Plaza. We had a hard time choosing images to blog, so we just blogged a bunch. We asked Matt & Nicole if they preferred a bunch of images at a few locations or a few images at a bunch of locations. Bunch of locations it was! And boy was Nicole intrepid, walking around the Plaza in heels. Whew.

Enjoy!

Jenny & Jayse

Jenny & Jayse were wed at the Unity Villiage Rose Garden this September and they had a warm day for sure! Jayse & his groomsmen forewent the usual tuxes and instead donned blue jeans and sweater vests. Jenny's bridesmaids were decked out in fall colors. They wanted a sort of "rustic" theme to their wedding and adored the architecture of Unity Villiage. It was very Spanish in nature with lots of towers, fountains, and arched doorways. We must admit, it was very hard to decide which photos to blog, but we narrowed it down to these select:

Candace & Michael

First, it was not supposed to be so hot in the middle of September. Their chapel was unairconditioned and there were 250 plus people. . . needless to say, it was one hot wedding! Rain kept us from the park for pictures, but there was a nice courtyard outside the church we got some nice photographs of. Candace & Michael felt it was important to include everyone in the festivities. . . so they had 8 attendants each and four flower girls. From a photographer's standpoint let's just say "whew". But from the interpretive dance before the ceremony and the live music durring. . . all the way to the homemade strawberry cupcakes with bright blue frosting, this was one fabulous event.

And while we're on the subject. . .

Theknot.com Love this website. Of course, we advertise with The Knot but every so often, we also go on the website and check out some of the articles. One of the best articles that I believe every engaged couple needs to read is this one. Every last point on this list is extremely true (except for possibly the last two. Photo booths are fabulous, yes, but not neccessary. And setting up a wedding shoot the day after? Sounds like a bigger hassle, but hey, we're just the photographers. . .) However, everything from choosing a wedding photography style to getting engagement pictures taken is a MUST.

Let's face it, there are LOTS of wedding photographers out there, and to be quite honest, most out there are very good and very similar. Really, it all comes down to meeting up with the photographer and finding the one you "click" with. We've been known to say that we don't accept every client that comes our way because we can tell at the consultation whether we'd be a good match or not. If you want lots and lots of posed, very traditional style pictures. . . then we might not be the best photographers for you. If you want lots of candid, photo-journalistic, off-the-beaten path photographs-- if you dig black & white, cool angles, and casual, soft, romantic moments, then we're for you. And that's our philosophy here at Artistic Imagery.
